Dash cancel
Cancel the end of a dash with another action — a jump, a slash or a block — so the recovery frames disappear. It is the base of almost everything else.

K-Style, explained
K-Style is the family of techniques GunZ players invented on top of the game’s animation and cancel rules. None of it is a bug — it is the reason GunZ still has a skill ceiling twenty years on.
Nobody should memorise frame counts from a webpage. The techniques below are the names and the ideas; the timing is learned in-game against the AI duellists, where a mistake costs you nothing.
The techniques
What each one actually is
Start with the first three. The rest build on them.
Butterfly
Alternate sword and gun dashes so their recoveries overlap. The result is a faster, harder-to-read dash pattern than either weapon gives alone.
Slash shot
Fire a gun and a sword slash in the same beat, so the melee animation covers the shot. Close range, high pressure — and the technique most players learn third.
Reload shot
Start a reload and fire during it. The reload animation hides the shot, and the magazine ends up full when the animation finishes.
Half-step
A short dash used to reposition without committing. It keeps your aim steady and lets you re-peek a corner on your own terms.
Wall climb
Jump into a wall and jump again at the contact to gain height. It turns map edges that look out of reach into routes.
Block cancel
Raise the block and drop it immediately so the block animation plays without the full recovery. Used to survive a slash and answer instantly.
Massive strike
A heavy sword hit landed out of a dash. Slow to recover if it misses, so it is a read rather than a combo starter.
How to learn it
Practise, don’t read
Pick one technique
One at a time. Trying to learn butterfly and slash shot together produces a player who does neither.
Warm up against bots
The AI duellists are always available. Use them for reps: no rating on the line, no wait for a room.
Take it into a match
A technique is learned when you use it under pressure without thinking about it. Then start the next one.
